Program will study antibiotic compounds for use against anthrax October 5, 2004, Philadelphia, PA: PolyMedix, Inc. announced today that it has received a Phase I SBIR in the amount of $167,000 for biodefense research. Under this grant the Company will study its novel antibiotic compounds against the infectious agent that causes anthrax (Bacillus anthracis) and other biowarfare pathogens.

PolyMedix, Inc. announced today that its novel antibiotic compounds have demonstrated positive antimicrobial activity in test tube experimental studies against the anthrax bacteria (Bacillus anthracis). In pre-clinical studies conducted at two outside laboratories, several PolyMedix antibiotic compounds were shown to exert potent antimicrobial activity against 12 different clinical and field isolates of anthrax bacteria.

PolyMedix Raises $2 Million to Date in Ongoing Series B Financing |

PolyMedix, Inc. announced today that it has raised a total of $2 million to date in a first closing and as part of its ongoing Series B financing efforts. The Company anticipates raising additional funds over the next three months in a second closing of the Series B round. The proceeds will be used to further the development of the Company’s novel antimicrobial compounds and conduct animal testing with lead compounds.
